Liposuction : Do I Need This?
Everybody wants a perfect body, but sadly with the lifestyle that we have, its quite impossible. We love to eat but lack in motivation to exercise. Also, what we’re eating are so laden with preservatives that contribute to weight gain.
Healthy lifestyle such as diet and exercise are not enough to help in shedding the pounds that you need to eliminate. Ageing is also a culprit, for as we age our body losses its ability to burn fat quickly and effectively.
Primarily, bulges in our abdomen are the ones that usually do not respond to diet and exercise. Luckily, there is a procedure that can help in contouring this area. Liposuction procedure is the most popular cosmetic procedure that helps in achieving the body that you always wanted. The common areas that can be treated with liposuction suction are the abdomen, upper arm, and thighs.
Suctioning of fat deposit in different parts of the body is primarily what liposuction does. This procedure uses two devices/instruments in suctioning of stubborn fat: cannula (blunt tubes that is inserted to the skin through a small incision) and aspirator (machine that sucks the fat).
There are several types of liposuction; Tumescent, Laser, Cavitation, Ultrasonic, Mechanical Power Cannula and Radio Frequency. You can either choose the Manual Liposuction or Laser Liposuction.
In the Tumescent liposuction, you’ll be injected with medicated solution that helps in removing fats, lessen blood loss and eases pain during and after surgery. Whereas in the Ultrasound-assisted liposuction, vibrations are used to break down the fat deposits then removed out of the body.
Laser liposuction are chosen by many patients even though they’re more expensive than traditional ones because of the faster recovery time and lesser pain.
Liposuction is not only performed to remove exercise and diet resistant fats but to also treat medical conditions such as the removal of benign fat tumors and people with fat metabolism problems.
Considering liposuction? Not everyone is entitled to undergo this procedure, you can be a good candidate if you’re in good health, have firm elastic skin, and most importantly has fatty pockets concentrated in specific body fats. People with poor skin elasticity may develop skin loopholes after the procedure. Though age is not an issue, older patients may not have the same results as the younger patients may have. Other patients combine liposuction with other procedures such as tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) to maximize the outcome.
Liposuction is usually done in an out-patient facilityt and doesn’t need any overnight stay at the hospital unless large amount of fats are remove.
After the procedure, bruising and swelling is expected for few weeks. You’ll be required to wear a girdle to reduce swelling. Resuming to normal activities may take days to weeks. Antibiotics and pain reliever medications will be given to you.
Results cannot be seen instantly after the procedure, it may take months to a year before reaping the fruits of the pain that you endured.
Like any surgical procedure there are risks that should be watched for such as infection, blood loss (excessive), allergic reactions from medications and internal organ puncture.
Going thru this procedure doesn’t guarantee you on not gaining weight anymore in the future. Though fat cells are remove in target areas, you may have problems in other areas of the body. Physical activities and balanced diet (jogging, walking and swimming) are beneficial in maintaining a toned and firm figure.
